How to Use Two-Factor Authentication for Windows Live on Your Devices

We recently showed you how to enable two-factor authentication on your Windows Live account. But that might have broken a few apps that don’t support it yet, my phones email client comes to mind, here’s how to fix them.

Creating Per App Passwords

Head over to the Microsoft Account portal and sign into your account. Then switch over to the Security info section.
On the left hand side you will see an option to create a new app password, click on it.
You will then be taken to a new page where you can view the password. You simply need to take this password and sign into the app that is not longer working using this password.
Its really as simple as that.

Removing Passwords

If your phone ever gets stolen, or your account gets compromised you can easily revoke your password by clicking on “remove exsisting passwords link”.
You will be then receive a prompt asking if you are sure you want to remove all the created passwords, simply click remove.
That’s all there is to it.
